(Almost) No-sew Ladybug Wings

Hi Friends!

Is school wrapping up where you are?  Things are certainly here!  Ellie had favorite book character day at school today and we threw together a quick costume for her.  The whole thing took me about $20 minutes to make because I already had most all of the supplies around the house.  Red tutu. Check! Black headband. Check! Ladybug girl shirt. Check!  Ladybug fabric. Check!
Yeah.  I actually had lady bug fabric.  Seriously. I REALLY need to go through my fabric stash.  It's overflowing!  But hey, being a fabric hoarder really came in handy this time!  Ellie loves the ideas of being a ladybug, but I think the wings and antennae are her favorite part.

Making this costume is so simple that it really doesn't even need a tutorial.  It's really that easy!
A REALLY long time ago I showed how to make really easy butterfly wings.  These wings are made in a pretty similar fashion. Let me show you how they were made.

It's just a simple half circle, whose diameter is your child's arm span.  Easy peasy.

Each edge is attached to a hair rubber hand.  All I did was fold over the edge of the fabric and sew a few quick stitches to hold the front to the back.
I used a safety pin to attach the middle to the back of Ellie's shirt.

Really easy right?  If the last couple of days are any indication, I think that these wings will give Ellie lots of play time this summer.  She's been "flying" around our yard constantly since we made them!  So fun!

Anyway, have a great weekend everyone!

XOXO,
Jill

  1. Ohhh será sencillo de hacer, pero es una maravilla, le queda precioso, jeje, y lo principal lo que ha disfrutado imitando a una mariquita por el jardín.
    Besote!!!!
