Introducing the Jelly Fish Pattern!

Hi Friends!

I'm so excited to share this latest patter with you today!  I made these jellyfish to hang above my daughter's bed in a type of canopy. (Did you miss my latest post of them hanging in her bedroom?  You can see the bedroom reveal here.)

The jellyfish bell (the top part) is about 8 inches wide and about 4.5 inches tall. Of course the whole jellyfish is MUCH taller because it has lots and lots of (approximately 2 feet long) oral arms and tentacles attached!  It's a lot of fabric, but I'll give you some ideas for how you can make these guys as cheaply as possible.

I really debated as to whether I should make this a pattern in my shop or simply a tutorial.  The truth is guys that I make very little money from this blog here, and writing up all of these under the sea projects has just been so much work that I decided to make this guy a pattern.  I really appreciate it when my readers support my work by buying my patterns!

If you're looking for something free though, boy do I have a great one for next week!  I'm so excited about it.  I'll be sharing a free pattern for one of my sea creatures that I haven't shown you yet...and I think it might be one of my favorites!  I'll put a link here when it goes live!

Anyway, I hope that provides a good balance between paid and free!

Let's talk about the jellyfish pattern though.  Would you like to make your own jellyfish?  You can purchase this DIGITAL PDF pattern in my Craftsy Shop or my Etsy Shop. It's one of my cheaper patterns, because it's a bit simpler than the others.  In fact, I'd say this project is great for someone who doesn't have a ton of sewing experience.  There's no complicated turning, embroidery, etc.

The pattern is about 10 pages long with over 25 color "how-to" pictures.  This includes 2 pages of full size template pieces.

In terms of licensing, this pattern is intended for the home sewer.  You are welcome to use my pattern to make dolls for a small scale craft fair or online shop, but no mass production, okay?

Here are the skills that you'll need for this pattern:

Sewing straight seams, back-stitching (and when to use) with a sewing machine
Ability to adjust length of stitch on your sewing machine to make stronger, smaller seams, and longer seams (gathering stitch)
Ease of working with small seam allowances (1/4 inch) and sewing in small spaces.
Gathering fabric and adjusting gathered fabric to be the correct length
Minimal hand sewing skills

I'll post again this week with all the info about my other new pattern: the mermaid, fish and sea star pillow.

I hope that you all like these new additions to my pattern shop!  I'm excited to have some new things there and I hope you are too.  Have a great day everyone!

XOXO,

Jill
