Day of the Dead Masks

A while back I talked about pastel basics.  I thought it would be really fun to may Day of the Dead masks with the girls because pastels provide such vibrant colors. We used a combination of oil pastels and soft pastels.

We liked using the soft pastels to color in the background, but liked how vibrant the oil pastels were against the black and on top of the white.

Lu played around with Q-tips for blending in the white.
She said she wanted this mask to look like the moon, with crators on the background.  Very creative!
I think they turned out really fun!
I laminated them to prevent the pastels from smearing off onto their clothes.  Then I just taped a popsicle stick to the back.
Lu decided she wanted to look like her mask, so she taped lightening bolts onto her shirt to match it.  So clever!
I hope you all are having a great week!

XOXO,
Jill
