The pattern is different from my other patterns. For one, the dolls are larger. They are 14 inches tall. Another big difference is that this pattern is meant to create a doll body out of knit interlock, instead of a woven fabric. This creates a doll which is soooo soft and cozy. Plus the added benefit is that you can sculpt these little dolls....everything from fingers to a cute little belly button!
Of course if you don't want to make the doll from knits you can use a woven fabric...all you have to do is add a seam allowance to the existing pattern. But really...stick with the knits. It's soooo worth it, plus the pattern gives several tips about how to make sewing with knits a breeze...and all you need is a basic sewing machine that at least has the capability to do a zig-zag stitch. No serger required. I promise!

What can you expect from this pattern? It's a lot like my other patterns in design. It's 33 pages long with over 150 color "how-to" pictures. This includes 8 pages of full size template pieces. In terms of licensing, this pattern is intended for the home sewer. You
are welcome to use my pattern to make dolls for a small scale craft
fair or online shop, but no mass production, okay?
•Sewing
straight seams, zig-zag,
back-stitching (and
when to use) with a sewing machine
•Ability
to adjust length of stitch on your sewing machine to make stronger, smaller
seams and longer seams for gathering
•Using
hand-sewing (the Ladder stitch) to close the doll body and basic
embroidery stitches (whip stitch, chain stitch, back stitch) is
helpful but not required.
•Pressing
with an iron to fold in seam allowances
•Ease
of working with small seam allowances (1/4 inch) and sewing in small spaces.
•Some
experience transferring an image (the face template) onto the fabric (for
embroidery) is helpful, but not required.
