Chakboard, Babies, and Leaves

I know, I know.  Chalkboard, babies and leaves?  If the title doesn't already give it away, I've been all over the place lately.  But I still thought maybe you'd like to hear about all these random different projects we've been working on.

First....I've always really liked chalkboard doors/walls, etc. but have never gotten around to actually making one.  I saw on craftgawker a post where someone had used chalkboard contact paper (I can't find the link now...if someone knows it let me know and I will add the reference here).  Genius!  A quick search on amazon revealed that I could get 6 feet of contact paper for under $8.  Sold!  It took all of 10 minutes to install it, and my kids love it and I love it for grocery lists, notes, etc.

In preparation for Thanksgiving, we've been making lots of fall crafts.  We've painted leaves and made leaf prints:

and made these watercolor/marker coffee filter leaves, which we laminated and made into a mobile.  Thanks Pinterest!   My kids wanted to be creative, and I was all out of ideas.

Finally, the last, but most exciting thing I've been working on for our (extended) family's newest addition.  Hooray!  I'm excited to become an aunt and excited for my little girls to have another little girl to play with!  We'll be having a shower soon, so that means....

invitations...

cute fabric that makes my ovaries hurt....

and promises for lots of cute baby things to come.  I look forward to sharing those with you in the weeks to come, along with a few of my favorite baby gift tutorials from around the web.

Until then, we'll be counting our blessings over and over this week, and I hope you all have a special time with the people you care most about.  Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
