Today my girls' are moving in together, and we're saying goodbye to this sweet room in our house. Even though my youngest is only about a year and half, she's decided that she will no longer sleep in a crib. She calls out for her sister at all hours of the night, and there is nothing more she wants than to sleep in the same room as her. Sweet. So sweet. Yet I'm still a bit sad.
Truth be told this nursery might be my favorite in the house, which makes the good-bye all the more difficult.
It was inspired by a trip to Disneyland when I was pregnant with my youngest. My mom painted the adorable panel of children from around the world.
Big sister Lu and I made the illustrations and hot air balloon together as a welcome gift for baby sister.
and I made this Winnie the Pooh baby quilt (despite my general dislike for brands) because I loved the Winnie the Pooh quotes so much that I had to make them into a quilt.
and you'll recognize these blocks too. These shelves are full of little figurines from our travels, my childhood, and my mom's childhood.
Time sure flies, doesn't it? There's nothing like children growing up to reinforce that fact. But alas, as the saying goes a new door is opening.
We've been working on a shared 'big girl' room, and it's neat seeing both girls are so excited to room together. I can't wait to share with you all of those new projects.
It's nice to have something new to look forward to. And it's also nice to know that while the crib is going away, many of my favorite parts of the room will be staying in our soon to be craft/play room.
I also really loved this nursery, Jill. I like you pieced together old and new things. And the colors are perfect. Is it a guest room for now?
ReplyDeleteYep! guest/play room for now. Ready for you to visit!
