Tomorrow my kids are having an art group with their friends, and we're going to read about sunflowers and make this "sunflower" bird feeder. We did a test run today just to make sure everything went as planned.
Here's how we made them:
First, what you'll need. Peanut butter, birdseed, a piece of poster board, a spoon, a string, and the most important thing--A PLASTIC PLATE HOLDER! (I found my plastic plate holder at the dollar store--they came in a pack of four). I used my hot glue gun to attach the poster board to center of the plate holder.
Then I let the kids spread around the peanut butter.
And spread some more.
And after some excellent spreading, we had this:
We sprinkled on the birdseed...
and then used a piece of yarn to hang it from a tree (next to a lower branch so that the birds have a place to stand and eat.
I bet these looked great hanging in the trees! I'll be featuring this on The Crafty Crow soon :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Cassi! That'd be great!
