Guess Who Loves You! Baby Book
I made this baby book for my cousin's soon to be little one. My kids always seemed to enjoy looking at faces when they were little--whether they were cartoons or actual photographs--so I thought that it would be fun to make a baby book which had pictures of the baby's parents. The book is simple, just the cover and then the inside, but hopefully still fun.
I used striped outer fabric since people always say that babies are attracted to contrasting colors. I used quick fuse fusible transfer sheets to transfer my cartoon and the photograph of the parents to be. For people who are unfamiliar with this product you simply print out on an inkjet printer and iron directly onto your fabric of interest. This is a little different than printing on fabric directly. The transfer papers are thicker and feel less like fabric. I think that the texture difference was fine though for this project since I purposely tried to include different textures for the baby to feel. This included the transfer image, but I also used flannel, ribbon, and terrycloth in the book.
Once I finished the front and back of the book I sandwiched a thin sheet of quilt stuffing between the layers and used bias tape to sew the two sides together. Lu begged to help me guide the fabric through the machine, so my stitches weren't quite as straight as I would have liked them to be. Hopefully the baby won't notice! ;-)
If you'd like to use my image (below) for your own personal use or gift please feel free. All I ask is that you leave a comment, follow me on facebook, or become a follower of the blog. Enjoy and happy crafting!
