It's finished! I'm super excited to show you how the girls' pretend store turned out. Now don't get me wrong, I love all the commercial stores that are the rage this year. The problem is that we have a very small house. There just isn't room for one of those with all of the kids' existing toys. I wanted something smaller and easier to move and store.
This is what I came up with. It fits nicely on the girls' little white table, and when they are done playing can be stored away in a closet or the garage.
I started out with this:
and with only about $10 worth of wood pieces I turned it into this:
A flower shop:
You remember these flowers right?
And these ice cream cones?
That's right! Those handy dandy holes serve as a way to attach this handy dandy ice cream holding shelf:
or you can add these lollipops:
Now it makes sense that I made those lollipops so darn fat, huh? I wanted everything to be interchangeable!
Here's another shot of the whole thing:
And you see that curtain? Well it has a purpose too. The center has a velcro strip where you can attach a "I will return at..." clock.
You can find the whole tutorial now here.
I love the store and am sure the girls will too. It would also make a great puppet theater =)
